About Us▾
Owner Rachel At the market..

Tucked into the rolling hills of Wellsboro, Pennsylvania, Mama Goose Homestead is a small-batch sourdough micro bakery and farmstand built on old-world tradition, wholesome ingredients, and the quiet beauty of living close to the land.

Founded by mother and sourdough artisan Rachel Preble, Mama Goose Homestead began with a simple desire: to nourish her family and community with real food made by hand. What started in her kitchen has grown into a way of life…one rooted in seasonal rhythms, slow fermentation, and a deep respect for the wisdom of traditional food.

Using a 300-year-old sourdough starter passed down through generations, each loaf is naturally leavened, long fermented, and crafted with care for rich flavor and easier digestion. We believe food should be made with intention…simple, nourishing, and as close to its natural form as possible. In a world where so much food has been rushed and stripped of its goodness, Mama Goose Homestead is a return to simpler ways…a place where bread is still made slowly, with patience and purpose, and where feeding others is an act of care.

When Rachel isn’t baking, she can often be found tending her garden, foraging wild herbs and flowers, caring for her chickens and bees, and looking after her beloved Sebastopol geese…Gossie and Gertie. Homestead life is woven into everything here…a life of stewardship, gathering, growing, and teaching her children the value of working with the seasons and honoring the land.

Alongside Rachel is her dear friend Clay Webster, whose hard work, loyalty, and heart have become an important part of Mama Goose Homestead. From helping with the daily baking rhythm to supporting the growing vision of the homestead, Clay’s presence has become woven into the story and spirit of this place.

At Mama Goose Homestead, every loaf carries a story of tradition, resilience, and the simple goodness of food made the way it once was. We’re honored to share that story with our community.
